I have been told last week that either coles or woolies have acquired land on Stegmenn Road for a future shopping centre. Does anyone know if this is true and what the plans are likely to be? I thought the Chook farm on Stegmann Roadwas being subdivided into one acre lots at some point.
I had heard years ago the that Latimer Road was to be upgraded to a major throughfare at some point, bypass the village and be a connection to Beenleigh Tamborine Road via Yarrabilba. I suppose that a shopping centre would fit well with these plans, particularly with the poor state of the existing shopping centre in the village.
Well that's a mighty interesting bit of news to me.
I knew Woolies had a prospective site next to the LV hotel though.
However that chook farm was applying for planning change/sub division for housing blocks according to the signs they had up there months ago, and whilst it is possible, I doubt Woolies or Coles would consider plonking a store up there, and ignore Yarrabilba itself.
I doubt that road plan would go ahead, as it's basically a road from nowhere to nowhere if you think about it.

However, I would really like to see them turn the unmade section of Latimer road between Randle and Hein roads built, with a roundabout at the Latimer - Hein road intersection. That'd solve the issue of the zig-zag in Stegeman road, as they could then close that end off.
The poor state of the shopping centre where the IGA is because a previous councillor didn't want the the owner to redevelop it, and the developer didn't want to waste anymore money on a site he was going to 'bulldoze' down.
